What is HomeZirk?
HomeZirk is an online utility that harnesses the power of video to present and view homes in a totally different way. Whether you’re a buyer or a seller, you’ll find HomeZirk a place of 24-hour open houses, direct user communication and most of all no commission fees. We’re a grassroots campaign dedicated to establishing a new standard of low-cost real estate transactions you can trust.
How it started.
As they were finishing college in late 2006, HomeZirk founders Anton and Gene Pavlenko (cousins) decided to put their newly gained spare time to good use by getting together to think of a business venture to avoid scaling the “corporate ladder”. At the time, both of their builder parents saw home prices diminish in a cooling market while MLS commission fees remained high.
They were amazed how MLS was still able to command such high fees in an age of internet and instant communication. Realizing that current MLS alternatives fell short of customer expectations, they set out to create a far-reaching platform that would substitute expensive realtors yet have the personal touch missing with the For Sale by Owner (FSBO) process.
They set the idea to motion by partnering with another recent college graduate, Rehan Waliany, to develop HomeZirk.com. Rehan Waliany, while an undergrad at UC Berkeley, co-founded a video-based car sales site that attracted venture capital and won the praise of Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak.
They thought best to create a cost effective model that differentiates between services most sellers are able to do and services realtors must do. The result is the creation of HomeZirk: where sellers are empowered to list their homes with video walkthroughs, show their neighborhood with Google Street View, instantly communicate with potential buyers and have the option of hiring a screened local realtor who can assist sellers with the sale of their home.
